The Camp Hope 2nd Annual BBQ Cook-Off just completed another successful year over the weekend of May 18th – 19th, 2013. There were 16 teams in the competition and around 400 visitors making for a very exciting and enjoyable event for all.

New this year was the opening of the Breakfast category, in which cookers had an opportunity to put their grilling skills to test to make a tasty breakfast dish. Also new this year was the addition of new supporters, new teams, and most importantly new Service Members and Veterans.

There are many thanks that go out to all of the volunteers, supporters, employees, and visitors for making the 2nd Annual Camp Hope BBQ Cook-Off a success. The greatest asset we have are the volunteers and supporters who tirelessly work for Veterans they may never meet.

As a final note, the Cadillac Kid cooking team headed by James Covington took the Overall Grand Prize, so work on your recipes, sauces, and strategies, because the 3rd Annual Camp Hope BBQ Cook-Off will be here before you know it!

Also occurring during the BBQ Cook-Off was the presentation of a $10,000 check from the Houston Parrot Head Club. These funds were raised recently at their annual “Mudbug Ball” in Spring, TX. Many thanks to all of the great folks who made this happen for our veterans and their families!
